Art is about relationships and making connections
In my art, I’m influenced by my relationships and experiences throughout the last 25 years of my life. I use the feelings and situations that I have experienced to create work that is expressive and that resonates with others. One thing that motivates me to create, is hearing audience or peer interpretations of my work. I enjoy creating works with the idea of connection, whether it be between colors, figures, or patterns, I am always trying to connect with the materials, subject matter, and the viewer.
Within my own practice, I like to incorporate a variety of designs and patterns to create large ornate shapes on paper. I also enjoy portraiture work, abstract expressionism, semi realism, and painting with bold colors. I find myself drawn more to painting and drawing. My work can vary from black and white to multicolored. It is eclectic in variety and ornate in detail. Depending on the medium used to create each piece, it can also be physically smooth or rough in texture. My work takes place in various locations. Place plays a special role in my creative process and how I go about creating my work.
